Fire safety Fires represent a serious hazard for ships, offshore units and high speed craft. Many studies have shown that fire is the second largest hazards for crew and passengers on ships. Foundering due to collision, grounding or hull structural failure is generally considered being the largest hazard.
Where authorised by the flag state, DNV will issue certificates based on international regulations like the SOLAS Convention, the MODU Code and the HSC Code. DNV participates in IMO and IACS (association of major classification societies) in order to keep the international legislations updated and conclude upon interpretations when needed. more |
